Congratulations to…

Anika Chakravartula and Elisabeth Hutchinson, both recently receiving their first caps for Kent and Sussex respectively.

History was made at the Shires

History was made when the Kent U-13 squad won the Shires competition for the first time. We are proud that two of our players, David Kwencien and Suhas Govindarajula, represented the county and played an important part in the victory.

We also had several players in the U-19 ICT who helped Kent to 5th place in this event, the highest finish for nearly 20 years.

U19 Inter Regional

Maidstone and Ashford U19 Team won the inter-regional competition held at Canterbury University on Sunday 16th April. Each and everyone of the team played brilliantly. Congratulations to the whole team - Chris, Ayman, Sam, Vishnu, Emma, Ella and Alison.

Congratulations to…

Emma Kennedy, Tom Larchet and Lucy Satterford who have all transitioned to Kent County Senior Badminton with the 3rd team.

Congratulations to…

Olaf Kwiencien and Tom Larchet, both of whom had England trials in March and April.

FUTURE EVENTS

All Kent based tournaments have now been announced for 2023. These can be found at https://www.kentbadminton.co.uk/TournamentsCalendar so keep checking this page for when entry opens.

Well done to…

Kent Badminton ran their second Para Disability event over the weekend of 13/14 May. Well done to Joshua Tully who won two silver medals in the LD Mens Doubles and Singles.

Congratulations to…

Club members Emma Kennedy and Tom Larchet, part of the Kent U-19 squad that finished runners up in the Inter County tournament.

Congratulations to our Senior Masters team, and our Mens E, both division champions.

Badminton in the Philippines

Blake Hawkins spent a month in the Philippines over December and January and was lucky enough to be able to play at provincial club Tinuy An Falls BC. The standard in the area is extremely high, with juniors queuing around the hall with their pocket money just to be able to play for half an hour. Games are held late in the evening due to the heat and humidity.

Blake was lucky enough to also enter a local competition, and had a superb overall experience.

Congratulations to

AIT Senior Mixed A who have won the TWBL Premier division.

Senior Ladies

AIT Senior Ladies A won the premier Division for the second year running in a nerve shredding finale, taking the title on a head to head record. It was a real squad effort this year and congratulations to everyone who played.
